The Wood Factory is an Irish business based in North Co Dublin specialising in creating unique one-off bespoke pieces and industrial furniture commissions. Working with homeowners, contractors, businesses, designers and architects to bring their vision to life, each piece is custom made and crafted from our excellent range of hand selected Irish hardwoods and steel. The Wood Factory was established by Thomas o' Loughlin, a qualified carpenter/joiner. Before making his way into the furniture industry, Thomas worked for many years honing his skills in the high-end property development sector but it was his dream for many years to start his own practice.
Since 2013 The Wood Factory has been developing a reputation for handcrafting handmade quality Irish designs from wood and steel for dining rooms, living areas, kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, hallways and other interior settings. "Our clients want to make a statement in their home or setting and we can help them do just that", says Thomas. In 2019, The Wood Factory newly renovated their furniture workshop and showroom which is situated just outside the rural town of Oldtown, Co.Dublin. The 4,500 square foot premises is open to the public by appointment, and showcases a range of work to see or purchase. Thomas explains that they encourage their clients to visit when it's possible
Their designs are described as being contemporary, natural-rustic, industrial, and vintage. As with creating bespoke furniture, there is always an opportunity to make the ordinary furniture, extraordinary. Thomas adds, "we make furniture which is individually made to order from locally grown Irish hardwood, sustainably sourced, milled, and made here in Ireland". The Wood factory are material specialists and can offer expert advice from design to delivery. "It's about supplying our clients with the best quality service we possibly can", he adds. The small team of craftsmen and designers make The Wood Factory a personable and friendly alternative to mass-produced furniture outlets.
Thomas himself is very involved with handling each piece of furniture, often from the timber selection right down to the final finish, which makes the Wood Factory's products and services incredibly unique, long-lasting, and beautiful.
